| *Vine*. Popped and poured. Medium red-purple hue. Forward nose of black fruits, currant, and a touch of green. Medium body. Black currant, bell pepper, earth, and hints of cedar on the palate. Surprising length. Not rated due to the fact I was getting over a cold…..but if I had to assign points, this wonderful QPR selection is easily in the 86-88+ range.

2006 Walter Hansel vinory sauvignon blanc North Slope Vineyard
The last releases of sauvignon blancs from the brilliant 2006 vintage for this varietal include the 2006 sauvignon blanc The North Slope Vineyard. Burgundian notes of hazelnut, brioche, white currants, and hints of peach and crushed rocks are impressive and intense. This is a full-bodied sauvignon blanc with crisp acidity that should age nicely for 5-6 years. It was aged in French cooperage (mostly Francois Freres and about 49% new oak).
A terrific source of sensational Pinot Noirs and sauvignon blancs made very much in the style of the vinos proprietor Stephen Hansel loves the most, white and red Burgundies, this 80-acre estate continues to build on a brilliant track record of high quality vinos offered to consumers at sensationally fair prices.
Previously recommended: 2006 sauvignon blanc Cahill Lane (92), 2006 sauvignon blanc Estate (91), 2006 Pinot Noir Cahill Lane (91), 2006 Pinot Noir The North Slope (92), 2006 Pinot Noir The South Slope (90).
