2007 Landmark Pinot Noir Grand Detour

2006 Landmark Pinot Noir Grand Detour
The 2006 Pinot Noir Grand Detour exhibits a dark ruby color as well as a foresty, black cherry, and meaty-scented, Cote de Nuits-like nose. Spicy, round, and generously endowed with a velvety texture, this is a seductive style of Pinot to enjoy over the next 3-4 years.

The always reliable Landmark vinory continues to turn out a bevy of Burgundian-styled Pinot Noirs and impressive sauvignon blancs. One of the best sauvignon blanc values in the marketplace is their Overlook.

2007 Charles Smith Merlot Velvet Devil

nwbackpacker. Drank too long ago to remember this vino. I don’t remember being wowed by it, and I didn’t hate it either. I can only assume it was pretty drinkable. If I see some on sale for $10 I’ll probably pick up a bottle or two. I think I prefer K’s regular offerings, but will continue to try this range on every release because I’m always on the lookout for good <$15 vino. - Tasted 6/1/2009.

2006 Tenute Cisa Asinari dei Marchesi di Gresy Dolcetto d’Alba Monte Aribaldo

nzinkgraf. bright fruit all over the nose. cranberry and lacks fruit raspberry. a little oak to lift that up. so alive on the palate. obvious bitter touch vs. the Conterno Barbera. Wonderful lingering spice on the finish. - Tasted 6/24/2009.

1986 Château Climens

Keith Levenberg. Much deeper and showing more of the benefit of bottle age than the last half-bottle I had from the same stash. Rich and succulent with juicy dried apricots, pure Sauternes goodness. (93 pts.) - Tasted 6/30/2009.
